From the easternmost tip of Brazil comes a woman who could not be more distinctive: Lia de Itamaracá. The singer and dancer is an icon of the culture of north-eastern Brazil and a key figure of Ciranda, a typical dance of the island of Itamaracá. According to the stories, the fishermen's wives used to sing and dance the Ciranda while waiting for their husbands to return from the high seas, to which the rhythm imitates the coming and going of the waves. The repertoire of the "Rainha da Ciranda", however, extends far beyond this to Coco and Maracatu and shows the facets of their raw, warm voice from completely new, unexpected sides.

The Solar – Brazil Music Festival is an event organised by the Adalu association, which presents Brazil's cultural wealth with a fresh, active and conscious approach. In this critical moment for Brazilian culture, when artists suffer from censorship and lack of support, the Solar Festival seeks to celebrate the gap between popular tradition and modern experimental music.

Artists invited for the third edition are Luiz Gabriel Lopes, Lia de Itamaracá & Band, Yabás (Solar Artistic Residence with Anna Tréa, Dandara Modesto and Jabu Morales), Joanina & Batucada and DJ Sampa, who unite to represent the richness and diversity of Brazilian culture. The music ranges from the youth, tradition and ancestral cult of Brazil to the strength, power and daily struggle of Brazilian artists.
