October at Moods offers a diverse lineup. So it was easy to put together five concert recommendations. In addition to acts I already know from past (Moods) concerts—and whose new music I’m looking forward to—I’m also discovering new bands in my selection.
Friday, October 2 – Björn Meyer: Convergence
With his electric bass, Björn Meyer creates fascinating soundscapes and takes the audience on a unique journey through rhythm, melody, and atmosphere. His extraordinary stage presence makes the connection between man and instrument seem almost alive. At Moods, Meyer will present his new album, “Convergence,” released by the renowned label ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music). Brazilian harpist Marina Mello, who has called Zurich home for some time now, explores the diverse possibilities of her instrument and moves effortlessly between tradition and experimentation. Together with her quartet, she transforms Moods into a mystical, rhythmically dense, and sonically intense space full of surprising encounters during her first Carte Blanche evening.Saturday, October 17 – EKR
EKR is one of the most consistent and credible voices in Swiss hip-hop. With his new album *Schatzcharte*, he encourages reflection and invites listeners to embark on their own search for life’s hidden treasures. In an age defined by likes, streaming, and constant distraction, he poses the uncomfortable question: What remains when you put your phone aside and give your own thoughts room to breathe again? Accompanied by a superbly tight band, EKR is set to get the crowd fired up at Moods.
