CD Tip: Revisiting The Revisited

Frank von Niederhäusern02-28-20241 min. read

For several years now, pianist Florian Favre has been exploring his homeland musically. After adapting old choral songs such as "Le Ranz des vaches" or "Le vieux chalet" for his solo album "Idantitâ" two years ago, and adding his own homages to "his" Fribourg, he's now taking it one step further.

His quest to update tradition has led Favre to revisit the revisited: Favre invited six colleagues from different cultural backgrounds into the studio to expand his music into multiple directions. With instruments such as the bulbous euphonium or the husky, beautiful oud, with classical cello and singing violin, his band conjures up an "addition of musical visions", as Favre describes it. And then, of course, there is the voice of Claire Huguenin, who, like Favre, hails from Fribourg, but adds an exotic, buzzing flavour to some of the songs.Hörtipp Jazz in kulturtippFrank von Niederhäusern, kulturtippFlorian Favre
