From the scene: Michèle Fella talks about her approach to music

In the 'From the Scene' series, musicians from the Moods universe share their thoughts. In the current edition, Michèle Fella from AS IN PLASTIC discusses her approach to music.

Dear readers and fellow musiciansMy name is Michèle Fella. I am a musician, singer and performance artist from Bern and Lucerne. When I think about music, I don't tend to think in complete sentences. Instead, I think in fragments, lists, questions and images. That's why this text is not continuous, but a collection. Read it in and out. No matter the order. Jump in, react, contradict, add.I invite you to take one behind-the-scenes lookI would love to show you a compilation of clips from my musical performances with my bands. The video would be about one minute long because people's attention spans are so short these days. It would be a bit dreamy and feature musical snippets, laughter, waiting and movement. While it wouldn't be ultra-professional in terms of filming and editing, it would still be aesthetically pleasing. It would be personal, with 'behind the scenes' shots and funny or intense moments. In between, there would be scenes of Norwegian landscapes, accompanied by my solo music. I would also say something to the camera, but probably edit it ten times afterwards, cut it out and then find it embarrassing. Then I would include it at the end anyway, because as a musician and a feminist, it's important to me to take up space. So here is the actual video:

Musically between two Locations:Dear HelvetiaI saw you crossing the counter again this morning.
There you were, looking casual on the two-franc coin, exchanged for coffee and croissants.
You are passed from hand to hand every day.
I wonder if you have been hugged today.
Apparently, 42 per cent of Swiss people suffer from loneliness.
How often do you observe us, Helvetia? As we slip away from each other?
Dear Helvetia, I see you.
I imagine how warm and soft your womb is, and how we could crawl inside it to find ourselves and connect.
What does your voice sound like? I would love to hear it.
With love, Michèle
The Norwegian fjord became like a grandmother to me.
It has many stories to tell: old, rough and wild, with the scent of seaweed and fish lingering in the air.
Its vastness and overwhelming presence make me feel both small and safe.
The cold weather made me focus inwards.
But what happens when there is suddenly time?
Here in Switzerland, I often feel like I don't have enough of it. Between February and June 2025, I lived in Trondheim, Norway. It's a place where the sense of time shifts with the sun. It was there that I created my solo project.Three Quotes that are currently on my mind:"Our feelings are our most genuine path to knowledge." - Audre Lorde"Being oppressed means the absence of choices." - bell hooks"Eat the rich." - Jean-Jacques RousseauI am working on four projects:Deluxe Lynx, Intimate Manifesto, AS IN PLASTIC, Solo.
They're not side by side, but mixed up.
Actually, there are more than four.
Expression comes in many forms: letting it all hang out; quietly withdrawing; expressing anger; enduring anger; being hopeful in anger; gently hoping; knitting lyrics; multifunctional instruments; rampant humour; a musical wall to lean on; being radical; being loud; being nothing at all; trying out all my personalities; opening and closing; letting subtleties speak; back into the cocoon. Did we make music together first and then become friends, or vice versa? How can I uncompromisingly integrate what interests me? Where does a song end or begin? Is there something in between? Why am I sometimes so nervous and sometimes not at all? What does my family say about my music at the Christmas table?Emotional. What goes on inside? Impressive lyrics and compositions. What do you call it when the interplay between all the instruments is so good that it makes you stand out like that? Lucid, perhaps. Special. Playing with the voice. Present. Your music makes me reflect on what's actually going on in my life. It takes people on a journey. You'll hear things you've never heard before. It's mega cool. It's expressive and powerful, but also sensitive. Sometimes it sounds unconventional and unwieldy to me. But still exciting. A female interpretation of Pink Floyd. Sensual, multi-layered and sometimes provocative. Something new. Touching. If you can get involved, a lot happens.Information reaches me through five Insta Accounts:
