Summer at Moods

From mid-June to September, things are always quieter at Moods. After hundreds of concerts, we take care of everything that needs to be done during our well-deserved summer break. However, we can't bear to go without music over the summer.

During the summer break at Moods, there's a lot for us to do even without concerts: tidying up the office, checking the lights, putting the sound system through its paces, carrying out repairs, oiling the club floor and revising the drinks menu. We enjoy looking after our 'Dihei' in the Schiffbau, but we love organising concerts even more. In fact, we can't stop doing it, even during the summer break. We have three special events in store for you this summer.

6 July – Barbatuques

The programme kicks off with what is probably the most famous body orchestra in the world: Barbatuques. The São Paulo-based group stomped their way to world fame 20 years ago with Baianá. However, to reduce them to this one hit would be short-sighted. By combining body percussion, vocal music, and influences from various Brazilian styles, as well as funk, electronics, and rap, Barbatuques have developed their own distinctive sound and aesthetic, making a significant contribution to the global popularity of body percussion.

26 July – Solar Festival 2025 – Amazon Edition

The Solar Festival has celebrated Brazilian culture every year since 2019. Now, the programme is being expanded to include an Amazon edition. The climate crisis is a central theme of the programme. Art and culture are used to promote a change in consciousness. The Amazon will be brought to life through performances by Úyra Sodoma and video mapping on the Schiffbauplatz. The cultural diversity of the rainforest will then be showcased at Moods. Highlights include indigenous music by Kayatibu, Amazonian pop by Aíla, and Brega funk rhythms by Marara Kelly.

30 July – Son Rompe Pera

After the intense focus on Brazil, we head to Mexico to bring the Summer Specials to a close. Son Rompe Pera are at the forefront of the contemporary international cumbia scene. The band's sound can be traced back to its founders, the Gama brothers, and is the result of their youthful rebellion. The brothers, who are the sons of a marimba player, combined the instrument with punk and psychobilly influences. The result is their unique style of garage cumbia marimba punk, which makes standing still impossible.
