What kind of music was playing at Moods? How many people were there? Where did the artists come from? Do you want answers to these questions? No problem! We've analysed the year 2024 for you.

Of course, you'll find all of those things in our annual report, which you can access here, but you'll also find more than that. We've also put together a different kind of set of key figures for you.

What kind of music was played at Moods in 2024?

In 2024, more than half of all concerts (55%) were jazz. Additionally, 23% of concerts fell under the 'global' genre, while six per cent were classified as 'soul/blues/funk'. This gives jazz and jazz-related music an overall share of 84 per cent. The remaining concerts were from the 'experimental' (11%), 'rap' (3%) and 'pop' (2%) genres.

Gender distribution of acts performing

In 2023, we analysed the gender distribution of musicians performing on the Moods stage for the first time. We have also focused on this aspect this year. Unlike other institutions, however, we record all musicians performing on the Moods stage, not just the bandleader. This can lead to distortion, for example, if an artist has a three-piece band consisting only of men, the proportion of women is only 25 per cent. Compared to 2023, we were able to increase the proportion of female musicians slightly. Nevertheless, we recognise that we still have a long way to go to achieve a more balanced stage presence.

Where did the artists come from?

In 2024, nearly two-thirds of all the artists who performed on our stage were Swiss. We are proud to contribute to the vibrant Swiss music scene.

How many people visited Moods?Although we organised slightly fewer concerts than in 2023, we were pleased to welcome more visitors. A total of 54,879 people visited Moods in 2024, which is an increase of over 4,800 people.

And now, our favourite figure of the year: 183! On average, 183 people attended each concert at Moods. This is the highest figure in ten years. This motivates us immensely and proves that you enjoy our programme.
