The 2025 Amazon Edition of the Solar Festival will take place in Zurich from 24 to 28 July. Brazilian culture will be celebrated at various locations across the city. Moods will also be part of the festival.

Since 2019, the Solar Festival has brought Brazilian culture to Zurich. This year's edition is a special 'Amazon Edition' focusing on the climate crisis. The combination of culture, art and technology aims to highlight the importance of environmental protection. The focus this year is on communicating indigenous knowledge and ecological resistance, particularly from the perspective of women living, working and shaping the Amazon region. The programme includes concerts, performances, video mapping, virtual reality, films, workshops and debates.Part of the festival, especially the musical part, takes place in and around Moods. However, before the Saturday concerts, the Schiffbauplatz will take centre stage. At 8.30pm, Uýra Sodoma's performance 'Ponto final, Ponto seguido' (Engl.: 'Last stop, next stop') will explore the life buried by materialism and colonial ideologies.
At 9.45pm, technology, digital art and local reality converge on the shipbuilding facade in a video mapping performance by Roberta Carvalho. This is part of the Brazilian festival Amazônia Mapping, which has spent over a decade promoting a new understanding of the region that goes beyond exotic clichés.
The music continues at Moods at 10.15 pm. Kayatibu are an indigenous Hunikuin music group from the Brazilian Amazon who combine traditional chants and forest rhythms with contemporary influences. Their sound is powerful, hypnotic and lively. Students from the ZHdK will support them in their performance.
The show continues at 11:15pm with Aíla performing Amazonian pop. She has released three albums, amassed millions of streams and performed at major festivals such as Coala and Rock in Rio. She is renowned for blending diverse Brazilian musical styles with her thought-provoking lyrics.
If you're still feeling energetic afterwards, the afterparty with Marara Kelly is the place to be. For her, DJing is a way to bring people together through music, dance and performance. Her mixes combine her research into Baile Funk and Technobrega, incorporate remixes to challenge cultural appropriation and decolonise music, and are full of fun, sensuality and power.
The Solar Festival 2025 will transform Moods into a stage for special artistic performances and a place for encounters and dialogue. It is an invitation to reflect together on cultural responsibility, sustainability, and global solidarity, and to carry these ideas forward into our daily lives.
