Musique en Route – Konzert für Gross und Klein

Experiencing music together - that is the focus of the family concert series at Moods. Young and old get their money&#x27;s worth here, which is why there are no children&#x27;s songs, but concerts full of interaction that invite you to dance and be amazed. In a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere, families have the opportunity to explore the colourful world of musical styles together and let themselves be infected by the enthusiasm. Musique en Route invites the whole family to discover traditional folk music from the various countries of Eastern Europe! From ballads and Far Eastern rhythms to melancholy melodies and danceable Balkan beats - there is room for everything in Musique en Route&#x27;s rich musical inventory. You can dance wildly, listen attentively or sway wistfully: With their infectious joy of playing, the quartet is able to take both young and old on this musical journey. Children of all ages are welcome to attend this concert. We take care to keep the volume at an appropriate level, but still recommend hearing protection for the little ones. Children up to the age of 12 can attend the concert free of charge, but we ask that you reserve a free ticket in the system. Young people between the ages of 12 and 16 pay half price. A Body Thing

&quot;A Body Thing&quot; is deeply rooted in the origins of deep house, soulful house and underground disco from the 1970s to the present day. The brothers and DJs A Thin Man and David Léon have been dedicated to this musical style, tradition and spirit since 1988. A party for fans, friends, family and all generations. The party starts at 21:00.

Dancehall Mood is the monthly reggae and dancehall party at Moods. Like on every first Saturday of the month, the K.O.S crew will make the Moods club cooking with hot riddims. This promises an evening full of dancehall hits and reggae rarities, perfectly tuned to the respective audience and immaculately presented by the K.O.S crew and their guest.

Come by! The Schiffbau is reopening its doors and invites you in. Experience two days filled with theater, music, gastronomy, and many other highlights. Today, you can enjoy the Schiffbau from 10 AM until late into the night. 

Konkolo Orchestra

The Konkolo Orchestra is a Zurich-based band centred around multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Alexis Malefakis. Their debut single «Blue G» (2022) was already a hit, now the album «Future Pasts» (2024) follows, a collection of funky to jazzy Afrobeat and highlife songs. An exuberant atmosphere and dancing mood are guaranteed when the Konkolo Orchestra performs in front of the audience with its light-hearted lyrics, cheerful melodies and a powerful brass section. This concert is free of charge, but admission is only guaranteed with a valid reservation.

Afterparty mit Chrigi G. us Z. (GDS.FM) & Maurice (Dust Surfers)

He has been collecting music for a long time - almost pathologically, in fact. With GDS.FM, he has now found a way to make his collection accessible. For his radio program he puts together suitable playlists for everyday living; in the live shows he invites guests and presents his latest discoveries; and in clubs and bars or at festivals he finally mixes his favorites live on the turntables. We are delighted that he will be doing the latter together with Maurice at the Schiffbau Fest! Maurice has been roaming Zurich&#x27;s alternative music scene for some time now as a DJ (Dust Surfers, Tropical Continent Soundsystem, King Clementine) and organizer (Helsinki, Stall 6, Theater Spektakel, Alors Festival). Of course, his DJ sets are danceable, but just as challenging and surprising. Genre designations are unimportant, the only thing that counts is telling a musical journey in an original way and with a wink.

Half Notes Presents: Samson Felipe

Samson Felipe is a Bossa Nova duo that, in addition to the gems of Bossa Nova, also includes pieces of Samba, Choro, MPB, and more recent Brazilian music in their repertoire. The duo consists of Samuel Schmassmann and Philipp Bucholtz. For this year&#x27;s Schiffbaufest, they will perform as the opening act at Schiffbauplatz. With the gentle sounds of Bossa Nova and the rhythmic variety of Brazilian music, Samson Felipe will create a dreamy and vibrant summer night atmosphere at Schiffbauplatz

Four bands, or more precisely the four winners of Band-it 2024, will each play a 40-minute set on this evening. Band-it enables young bands and musicians to present themselves under professional conditions to a larger audience and a jury. At qualifications throughout the canton of Zurich, they show their skills each June and play at the finals in August for the coveted places on the podium. All styles are represented: from death metal to blues, from German pop to Balkan sound, from punk to rap. Young people aged 12 to 22 from the canton of Zurich are eligible to take part. Since 1989, over 1600 bands have taken part in the Zurich Young Band Festival. Band-it has been a springboard for numerous musicians: for example, Faber, Evelinn Trouble, Pablo Infernal, My Name Is George, Marylane and Sebass. Supported by Migros Kulturprozent and by the Department of Education of the Canton of Zürich

One man, one guitar, one string: that&#x27;s enough for the Jamaican singer to create an entire musical universe. Since his portraits in the award-winning film documentaries RiseUp and The King of One String, thousands of amazed listeners have succumbed to the charm of his songs; whether he is performing unplugged at a market in Jamaica, at New Orleans &amp; Heritage or at Global Fest in New York in front of a large audience. With a unique personality and his raw yet grandiose style, he immediately captivates the audience and skillfully uses his charismatic baritone voice combined with hypnotic, bouncy grooves on his one-string acoustic guitar.

An evening full of Afrobeats and dancehall hits as well as reggae rarities. Get ready for a dance explosion of a special kind!

What an anniversary! In the year of his 80th birthday, Marcos Valle is also celebrating sixty years on stage. The Brazilian composer, producer, songwriter and musician belongs to the second generation of bossa nova and his 1998 album Nova Bossa Nova became a model for Brazilian electro and contemporary Brazilian jazz. Look forward to a danceable concert full of Brazilian rhythms, from samba and bossa nova to psychedelic Música Popular Brasileria, enriched with jazz improvisations, funk and disco rhythms. And last but not least, hits like &#x27;Summer Samba&#x27; and &#x27;Estrelar&#x27; that will catapult you straight into that beach holiday feeling. In collaboration with Adalu.

Alessio Menconi, guitarist from Genoa, who has performed on stage with Billy Cobham, Paolo Conte, Jimmy Cobb and many others, celebrates the centenary of his idol Wes Montgomery (Indianapolis, March 6, 1923 - June 15, 1968) with his trio. The trio performs Montgomery&#x27;s own compositions as well as other pieces typical of him and arranges them in a very personal way, without ever forgetting the original sound.

Band-it enables young bands and musicians to present themselves to a larger audience and a jury under professional conditions. In June, they show their skills at six qualifications throughout the canton of Zurich. Indie rock, German pop, Balkan sound, singer/songwriter, hip hop and punk: since 1989, over 1600 bands from all musical genres have taken part in this Newcomer Band Festival. For many of these young talents, Band-it has been a launch pad to great success, such as Faber, Evelinn Trouble, Pablo Infernal and Sebass. Admission is free. A project of Migros Kulturprozent and the Education Department of the Canton of Zurich.

Akutuk Origins

Moods Summer Special in der Barfussbar

Akutuk is a percussion technique from Cameroon: water is used as an instrument, played with bare hands and accompanied by singing. It is an exclusively female practice that is passed down from woman to woman over generations. The Akutuk Origins project aims to revive this almost lost cultural heritage and make it visible in public spaces. A hypnotic but surprisingly versatile sound that will unfold its full power in the wonderful setting of the Barfussbar. Supported by the Südkulturfonds. Imagine Fela Kuti jamming in an bar in a nameless, global metropolis with Martin Denny, but it is on glass harp… While this might sound like a sensationalist figment of an over-heated music journalist’s brain, it is not too far from what Os Barbapapas are able to achieve. The band from the music metropolis of Sao Paulo is named after the iconic but weird cartoon series from the 1970s. And the band members are just as amorphous and shapeshifting as the characters in the series: they learned gnawa in Morocco, have performed in circuses and built various instruments of their own. On their new album, appropriately named Enigma, the original seed of Os Barbapapas&#x27; global underground vibes comes to full bloom.
