PLAIST is a festival led by drummer and composer Christian Lillinger and his label PLAIST. Over two days both Christian Lillinger and PLAIST will present some aesthetic approaches.

The trio Dell Lillinger Westergaard combines energetic playing with structural execution, compositional materials are permanently interconnected in real time. The interaction of the musicians leads to an unfolding of a higher musical energy state of the most diverse differentiations, variants, sound overlays and dependencies. The formal designation does not take the foreground, rather the development of form as a production process. Thus the trio does not understand itself in the traditional sense as a trio with soloist (vibraphone) plus rhythm section (bass and drums), rather much more as a relational ensemble, in which all playing partners carry equal weight and therefore does away with the dichotomy of solos and accompaniment. As an option, the trio hooks up with guests such as e.g. Tamara Stefanovich, John Tchicai, Bob Degen and Matt Maneri.

Genre
Jazz
Dominik Blum is the archetypical post-modern stylistic world-traveller: classisical piano practice as daily bread to retain the speed and to sharpen the spirit and mind, Hammond organ playing as eclectic intensification somewhere between New Music, Minimal, Rock, Free Jazz and Walls of Sound.
