The Turkish metropolis of Istanbul has always been a crossroads of cultures. This also resonates with the singer and artist Gaye Su Akyol. She takes up Anatolian folklore with its eastern melodies and odd rhythms and endows it with rocky, psychedelic moods. The tradition is picked apart and expanded with Nirvana and Spaghetti Western. The result is intoxicating - you could call it Turkish surf rock. Gaye Su Akyol is launching something like a revolt against cultural conservatism in Turkey. In the meantime, she is also being heard on Western radio stations.
A small number of tickets will be available at the box office.
