Tickets can be exchanged for festival wristbands at the check-in desk from 6 p.m. The wristband entitles you to admission to all concerts as long as capacity allows. We recommend arriving early. Admission is restricted to persons aged 16 and over; younger persons may only enter if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Some musicians play notes; others live sounds. Marco Mezquida is the latter. Born in Menorca, this pianist, improviser, and composer embodies musical passion. He is considered one of the most vibrant figures on the Spanish jazz scene. He is often described as a &quot;child prodigy,&quot; &quot;piano wizard,&quot; and &quot;magnetic.&quot; He moves effortlessly between jazz, classical, flamenco, folk, pop, and free improvisation. Among his many awards, he has been voted Musician of the Year four times by the BMW Welt Jazz Award (Audience &amp; Jury Award) and the Asociación de Músicos de Jazz y Moderna de Catalunya (Association of Jazz Musicians of Catalonia). Following the albums Letter to Milos, Talismán, and Ravel&#x27;s Dreams, Marco Mezquida will present his new album, Táctil, in spring 2026. He will perform with his musical partners, Aleix Tobias on drums and percussion and Martín Meléndez on cello.

After the musical opening of the jam band, lively and exciting sound conversations begin between musicians who spontaneously meet on stage, reflecting the diversity of jazz in all its facets. The JazzBaragge Wednesday Jam is supported by the non-profit association JazzBaragge. There is no presale for JazzBaragge, only box office.

Canadian saxophonist Ben Wendel returns to our club with an innovative new ensemble. Following concerts with Kneebody and his sextet, as well as a featured performance with Kurt Rosenwinkel’s NEXT STEP in recent years, Wendel&#x27;s latest line-up features four leading vibraphonists. This electroacoustic project showcases a distinctive and vibrant instrumentation, exploring the intersection of chamber, classical, and minimal music within the context of contemporary jazz. With some of the biggest names in contemporary percussion, this is set to be a boundary-pushing evening both on and off stage. BaRcoDe brings together four of the most innovative voices in contemporary percussion. Joel Ross, a Blue Note recording artist, has redefined the vibraphone through acclaimed releases like KingMaker and The Parable of the Poet, and is widely regarded as one of his generation’s most expressive improvisers. Simon Moullier — praised by Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock, and known for his customized quarter-tone vibraphone — expands the instrument’s vocabulary with global idioms and electronics. Patricia Brennan is celebrated for her exploratory solo work and collaborations with avant-garde leaders like Mary Halvorson and John Zorn, using extended techniques and real-time processing to reimagine the vibraphone’s role. Venezuelan-born Juan Diego Villalobos draws on Afro-Caribbean traditions and experimental electronics, bringing a folkloric yet futuristic energy to the ensemble’s sound.

Filippo Valli Quartet

The Filippo Valli Quartet presents a repertoire that combines the bandleader’s original compositions with modern interpretations of jazz standards. The band stands out for its harmonious balance between composition and improvisation, as well as for a vivid and profound musical dialogue. Valli draws inspiration from some of the most innovative voices in contemporary jazz, such as Joel Ross, Immanuel Wilkins, Braxton Cook, Marquis Hill, Joe Sanders and Joshua Redman. Artists, whose complex sonic landscapes provide fertile ground for his creativity. At the same time, it is the soul of Black music that deeply permeates his artistic vision, with blues, soul and funk becoming languages through which Valli shapes a personal and emotionally charged sound world. The interplay of the four band members’ musical identities creates a rich palette of nuances and expressive depth. The quartet leads the listener on a musical journey that flows between moments of high energy and intimate reflection, with the musicians’ collaborative spirit turning each concert into a coherent, immersive and profoundly contemporary experience.

Meral Polat is a Dutch actress, playwrighter, songwriter and singer with Kurdish-Alevi roots. Together with her three fellow musicians, she creates an open, multi-layered sound that combines Anatolian folk, Kurdish poetry, rock, blues and improvisational elements. Her debut album Ez Kî Me is a contemporary interpretation of Anatolian music, at times a battle cry, at others a delicate call for identity and belonging and was nominated for the Songlines Music Award and the UPBEAT Best New Talent Award 2024. With her second album Meydan she gives voice to women living on their own terms, a powerful, epic exploration of freedom, humanity and women&#x27;s strength. Musically, it adds more rhythm, groove, rock ‘n’ roll, and power, sharing stories of resistance, struggle, and solidarity in the fight for women’s rights.

Known for their genre-spanning DJ sets that seamlessly blend West Asian influences, bass, and percussion, CHAMOS truly embody their name—meaning &quot;friends&quot;—as they bring together diverse sounds and audiences. With members from Kurdish and Dutch backgrounds, their music effortlessly fuses traditional and electronic elements. Building on the success of their club edits series, which has garnered attention from DJs and artists alike, the duo has cultivated an organic and ever-growing fanbase.

To celebrate her anniversary, Heidi Happy has written a song with each of her twenty most inspiring encounters from the past twenty years. And at Moods Heidi Happy will be presenting her resulting album “20”, which will be released on February 6, 2026, with some illustrious guests! Büne Huber, Wallis Bird, Rebekka Lindauer, and Handsome Hank will join Heidi to take a look back onto her musical career to date. Folky singer-songwriter ballads, spherically dreamy hippie worlds and synth-pop with French charm - it&#x27;s all there. Sometimes very calm and unagitated, sometimes so moving that it&#x27;s hard not to dance along or howl with emotion. This concert recording was made with the support of Migros Culture Percentage.

Zwicker&#x27;s music fuses songwriting with dance floor electronica. He has performed as a DJ all over the world with his club tunes, some of which he recorded with singer Heidi Happy (for example, ‘Who You Are’, 2009). His releases on Compost Records are timelessly charming and have received millions of streams on various platforms. This evening, the busy soundtrack composer, whose birth name is Cyril Böhler, is stepping out of the studio once again. He will be visiting his former DJ residence at Moods with new tracks, including a guest appearance by Heidi Happy! The stars are aligned. Dancing is allowed.

JMO are not only the initials of the three musicians, but also the three main influences in their music: Jazz - Mandinka - Orient. To mark their 10th anniversary, Jan Galega Brönnimann, Moussa Cissokho and Omri Hason are presenting their third CD Nia Yelle. In Mandinka, a West African language, this means: Open Your Eyes. The music of JMO revives the art of storytelling. The sparkling clear sound of the kora meets the sonorous, smoky tones of the bass clarinet and is supported by Omri Hason&#x27;s various percussion instruments. The interplay between Moussa Cissokho, Jan Galega Brönnimann and Omri Hason captivates with beautiful melodies and rhythmic elegance - in their unforgettable live concerts they oscillate between magically transfigured moments and rhythmically explosive flights of fancy. The result is authentic and contemporary chamber music that crosses borders between traditional and modern sounds from Africa, Europe and the Orient. The repertoire is written by all three musicians and shows their different influences. The clash of the three cultures, the choice of instruments and the rich pool of ideas, melodies and rhythms make the music an unforgettable adventure.

Antistatic

The Danish instrumental trio Antistatic creates complex soundscapes with just two guitars and drums. Their instruments intertwine effortlessly, combining percussive guitar lines and intricate polyrhythms to create hypnotic grooves that lie somewhere between post-punk and math rock. Their debut album, Relics, was released in 2024 on the renowned US label Cuneiform Records and received rave reviews worldwide. This year, the band will follow up with a new release. Antistatic is an experience, especially live. They build dynamics between controlled precision and cathartic outbursts. With their repetitive, driving rhythms, they put you in a trance, only to create new tension time and again with surprising twists.

Sc&#x27;ööf are tipped to be the next big thing in Europe. The experimental band has already won the Zenith Award from the European Jazz Network, among other accolades, and has developed its own radical sound that is refreshingly adventurous and provocative. With their fascination for strange grooves and exuberant live energy, Sc&#x27;ööf are an exciting surprise. The Swiss-based quartet consists of drums, a laptop, an electric guitar and two saxophones with electronics and sound design. They create acoustic glitch music using advanced instrumental techniques, weaving atonal melodies into dense, complex rhythms and blending a variety of musical ideas into a single piece. Their sound uniquely combines elements of jazz, rock, metal, punk and experimental music. Their technically impressive performances are based on strong individual musicality and years of collaboration. Thanks to their long, repetitive, highly rhythmic structures, their performances are hypnotic, and thanks to their physical energy, they are intense.

ANCESTRAL ROOTS invites people to a celebration that honors heritage and culture, living in and through the diaspora, and third culture identities through sound, storytelling or chanting, making the invitation wide, vibrant and inclusive. Holland Andrews (they/them) and yuniya edi kwon (she/her) are composer-improvisers, vocalists, and interdisciplinary performance makers based in Brooklyn, New York. Their collaborative practice is an emergent and embodied extension of their lives as ritualists, spiritual practitioners, and partners. Holland, a multi-instrumentalist and producer, arranges music for voice, clarinet, and electronics, harnessing the power of these instruments to address themes of vulnerability, catharsis, and healing. yuniya, in her work, connects sound, movement, and ceremony to explore transformation, transgression, and mythology’s ability to both obscure and reveal. Their co-created opera-in-progress &quot;How does it feel to look at nothing&quot; is a transdisciplinary space of convergence for their shared life, queer-trans family, and beloved creative lineages, grounded in the foundational questions that connect and inspire them. Separately, their work has been presented by The Whitney, REDCAT, PICA, ISSUE Project Room, Dia Art Foundation, Performa Biennial, Roulette Intermedium, Civitella Ranieri, and others. Holland and yuniya are both Guggenheim Fellows, Foundation for Contemporary Arts Awardees, Creative Capital Awardees, and United States Artists Fellows. &quot;How does it feel to look at nothing&quot; will have its world premiere in Fall 2026 before touring internationally. Curator: Kay Zhang (she/they) is a sonic artist whose work explores in-betweenness through sound, performance, curation, and research. Rooted in experimentation and learning-by-doing, their practice bridges transdisciplinary art, queer feminist theory, and sound ecologies. Kay is a founding member of Kollektiv international Totem (KIT), River Oracle, and ARKA, and is part of the curatorial team at Les Complices* in Zurich. Their work fosters collective listening, care practices, and intercultural dialogue through sound performance and curatorial experiences.

MKZ «Best of Stufentest»

Every year, the students of Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich (MKZ) can have their musical progress assessed by a jury of experts as part of the Stufentest. Outstanding contributions from all seven levels are then performed in front of an audience. This year&#x27;s final concert again reflects the stylistic breadth of MKZ - from Mozart to Motörhead, played and sung by eager beginners to stage-tested near-pros. K.O.S Crew Dancehall Mood

Dancehall Mood is the monthly reggae and dancehall party at Moods. Like on every first Saturday of the month, the K.O.S crew will make the Moods club cooking with hot riddims. This promises an evening full of dancehall hits and reggae rarities, perfectly tuned to the respective audience and immaculately presented by the K.O.S crew and their guest.

Marie Krüttli & Ensemble

For the currents festival, Marie Krüttli presents new music as a ritual of becoming. The lyrics evoke feminine power through ancient goddesses — Amaterasu, Isis, Athena — luminous, wise, maternal, brave and fiercely protective figures of transformation. These presences mirror a journey of self-growth and love, deeply rooted in nature and its cycles. Musically, the work draws on the forward-looking sensuality and groove of Bilal’s recent creations and on Baudelaire’s poetry as set to music by Debussy, alongside the refined colors of Poulenc and Ibert. The music unfolds as an intimate, expansive soundscape where myth, care, and strength resonate.

Nika Roza Danilova has summoned electronic goth incantations as Zola Jesus (us) since 2006. She’s endlessly tinkered with her sound as a sonic auteur, and explored the inner workings of her soul by engaging with art pop, classical, and brutally industrial cold wave. For her currents festival appearance, Zola Jesus is joined by musical polymath Louise Woodward and an all-star cast of Zürich classical musicians, including the acclaimed Galatea Quartet, for a new hypnotic, tidal piece for voice, string quintet and French horn.

Tim & Puma Mimi für Familien

Tim &amp; Puma Mimi are back! The Swiss-Japanese electro duo, known for their techno cucumber, toothpaste flute and Skype concerts, recently even made it into the Hollywood film Ghost in the Shell. After seven years of absence aka raising children aka training interns, another baby is now here: an album with twelve tracks: &quot;More or Less Tim &amp; Puma Mimi&quot;. The play with addition and subtraction runs through the entire album. Many new signature sounds appear: a pocket operator synthesizer that looks like a pocket calculator and sounds like a Gameboy. A vocoder that opened up new possibilities for Mimi&#x27;s unique vocals. Or the KoTaMo, a mix of koto, tambura and monochord - three cultures, three bodies of sound, one instrument. What is striking about the new songs is the (supposed) lack of beats and the even stronger incorporation of Japanese music elements via flute melodies, crickets or folk songs (Aka Tombo, Ryushi), while the unique Tim &amp; Puma-Mimi quirkiness remains at all levels. - Duration of the concert 50-65 minutes - Kids of all ages are welcome. - We will keep the volume at a reasonable level, but we do recommend hearing protection for the little ones. - Children under the age of 12 can attend the concert free of charge, but we ask that they reserve a free ticket. - Teenagers between the ages of 12 and 16 pay half price. - Can&#x27;t afford a ticket?
