Jean-Paul Brodbeck (*1974) is one of the most influential pianists of his generation. He began as self-trained, with 17 he started with Classical music studies and later studied Jazz with Hans Feigenwinter. He has played with greats such as Lionel Hampton and Wolfgang Muthspiel and has further developed his playing as a soloist and sideman in various projects.
LUKAS TRAXEL SOLO
For years, the Zurich bassist Lukas Traxel has been the rhythmical and harmonic backbone of a variety of Swiss jazz bands. Now Jean-Paul Brodbeck has invited the young bassist to open his Carte-Blanche evening with a solo set. Without a safety net and false floor, and completely acoustic, the result is a program whereby Traxel’s favourite songs provide the foundation for dreamy, adventurous improvisation, without losing the essence of the songs.
