Freak Power

Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out – everyone has danced to this 90's hit from Freak Power! Over 20 years have passed since then and founder Norman Cook is meanwhile known as Fatboy Slim. Now the British band is back again: with their bubbling mix of Acid-Jazz, Funk and Soul, they revive the good old times with just as much energy and groove and also bring along some new songs. A must for all nostalgics and all those who want to swing their hips again before the Summer break.

Acid Arab (Live)

What began as a party motto is these days a bridge between western Club sounds and Arabian music. The DJ’s Hervé Carvalho and Guido Minisky - both already active on the Paris club scene for more than two decades – started the party series Acid Arab about four years ago. Their name says it all: Techno, Acid House and Disco are blended with sounds from North Africa and the Middle East and thus develop a hypnotic force that no one can resist.

Live Elektronic

Roy Ayers

He is the King of Neo-Soul and quasi a living legend: Roy Ayers. It is said, that he received his first vibraphone mallets by his great role model, Lionel Hampton, as a present when he was five years old. Following countless concerts and recordings since the 60’s, today he is the most well-known vibraphone player. He is able to create a unique blend of different musica styles: whether classic Jazz or electronic «Tarzan»-Remixes, via club hymns such as «Running Away» and «Our Time is Coming» on to Funk classics «The Freaky Deaky» and «We Live in Brooklyn Baby» – and Roy Ayers celebrated with everyone «Everybody love the Sunshine». Fans of Acid Jazz, Funk, Electronica, House and Hip-Hop have admired, sampled and remixed his tracks throughout the entire world. 50 cent, Mary J. Blige, The Roots, Madlib, Matthew Herbert, Basement Jaxx and Jazzanova are only a few of the many that Roy Ayers has influenced.

VERSCHOBEN AUF 2021

Dominik Blum is the archetypical, postmodern, stylistic world traveller: classisal piano practice as daily bread for retention of speed and to sharpen mind and spirit, Hammond organ playing as eclectic consolidation somewhere between New Music, Minimal, Rock, Free Jazz, Walls of Sound. Church Organ playing, analogue synthesiser playing, and lately he often reaches for his electric bass and lets it rip... somehow all of this will surface (with illustrious guests) in his Carte Blanche sessions during December 2020! The third evening of Dominik Blums Carte Blanche is dedicated to alternative Groove music. The Zurich Post Grunge band age, in which Blum can be heard as singing bassist, plays the first set.

Aluk Todolo

Thereafter, for the last highlight, the three musicians of Aluk Todolo from Paris get Moods a-shaking with their occult, virtuoso, brutal post-rock. Hendrix will be checking this out, equally Sunn O or for example the Japanese Acid Mothers Temple. An insider tip among the classic guitar rock trios. Great music that deserves more reward.

Ester Poly

Acid Amazonians

WET WET WET

Probably the most courageous Swiss band takes us by surprise with interference sounds, feminsitic proliferation and monotonal virtuosity. During their live performances the focus is on improvisation. Everything else is coincidence, like applause for the Big Bang, and garbage in outer space. Why? Because it can be different! «How To Take Up Space>, the debut album of the band from Zurich has just been released. Both cumbersome and full of relish.

For admission, all guests need a valid Covid certificate from Switzerland or EU (QR code) for vaccinated, tested or recovered persons and an official ID card (ID, passport or driver's license). The detailed admission rules are listed here: https://www.moods.club/en/program/admission-rules-covid/ The duo Ester Poly comprises Martina Berther on electro-bass from Zurich and Béatrice Graf on drums from Geneva. Their music moves between Psychedelic Rock, Punk and New Wave with political and socio-critical song texts. Since the foundation in 2013 the duo has played over 160 concerts in Switzerland and abroad, from big club and festival stages to small DIY gigs. On their second album, «WET», (release on 20. August 2021 on the Swiss label Hummus Records) the two musicians now expand the possibility of the bass + drum tandem with unforeseen sounds and influences from improvised music. The result of the mix is a freshly squeezed Ester-Poly juice with a bitter socio-critical aftertaste.

His book on Turkish psychedelic music, The Turkish Psychedelic Music Explosion: Anadolu Psych 1965 to 1980, was published by Repeater Books in 2018. Insanlar

With their Shaman Techno-Folk-Hybrid, which is firmly rooted in the religious poetry of the Anatolian Alewi, and their energy-loaded punky attitude, the band Insanlar has cultivated a mystical fan base. The release of the hypnoti stomper «Kime Ne» on the British label Honest Jon's in 2015 catapulted the band onto the international stage. The individual blend of traditional Anatolian/Mesopotamian instrumentation, electronic music and spiritual/philosophical texts totally captivates the audience.

Acid Amazonians x Taimashoe

The perhaps most courageous band in Switzerland surprises with disruptive noises, feminist excesses and monotonous virtuosity. Improvisation is at the centre of their live performances. Everything else is coincidence, like applause at the big bang and waste in outer space. Why? Because it can be done differently!

Living Room Session mit LTJ Bukem

Jur Records

Welcome to the new Living Room Session parlour! After a detour to Aarau, Jur Records are back in Zurich with their Living Room Session. When the man behind the wire-rimmed glasses and the disarming smile writes his job description, what does he write? The man whose records catapulted breakbeat into a whole new galaxy of sound? Even if he doesn't want to admit it, LTJ Bukem is the living embodiment of the creative spirit of the post-acid house era. He is a mild-mannered bundle of energy whose panoramic musical vision has succeeded in every field he has explored. Of course, the DJs of the Living Room Family will also be on hand to provide hot beats and massive bass throughout the night.

Cem Yıldız

Acknowledged as a modern-day Aşık, a troubadour, Cem has been relentlessly pushing the boundaries of modern Anatolian music, inspired by poets and folk musicians, such as Yunus Emre or Ali Ekber Çiçek. His idiosyncratic combination of shamanic folk acid, spiritual lyrics, and techno creates a hypnotic atmosphere on stage as well as on the dancefloor: this is where Cem is most passionately improvising with his beloved electric bağlama. His characteristic sound is deeply embedded in club bangers, such as Stil and Ejma with Acid Arab, and in his earlier works with Orient Expressions and İnsanlar. Cem toured in Europe and performed, amongst others, at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Sonar in Barcelona, Dekmantel in Amsterdam, or Kilbi.

Dub Spencer & Trance Hill feat. Umberto Echo

Live in Surround Tour

Dub Spencer & Trance Hill have been in the music business for about 20 years and are still as hungry as a caterpillar in forest full of leaves. Together with their longtime companion Umberto Echo they present their new album «Imago Cells» live in Surround. Imago cells are responsible for a caterpillar's ability to transform into a butterfly. This served as the starting point for the new record: something old is overcome so that something new and more beautiful can emerge. Now it's not that Dub Spencer & Trance Hill wanted to overcome their dub roots. But it is in the nature of the four Musicians from Lucerne to climb unknown branches. The tracks sound much more electronic, Umberto Echo's dubmix skills, already legendary in stereo, reach a spectacular new level; what remains is the ecstatic live performance. So all fans of danceable dub, trance and organic techno music can expect an extraordinary sound experience that should not be missed.

Together they create a powerful blend of soul, funk and modern jazz that packs a real punch when performed live.
