Carte Blanche
Instead of the «Artist in Residence», for 2019 the Moods Jazz Association has organized a new «Carte Blanche» series which thus puts six outstanding musicians from the Zurich Jazz scene in the spotlight. They are offered the opportunity to compile a program that can be played throughout the year in Moods and other Zurich venues.
For two of her new «Carte Blanche» projects, Elina Duni has hooked up with Rob Luft, BBC New Generation Artist and Rising Star on the booming London Jazz scene. Luft’s playing sounds like the joie de vivre of West Africa, like Celtic Folk music and tender minimalism. His original and cheerful sound is the perfect complement to Elina’s singing. They will appear in two different line-ups, once in a groovy quartet and once in a Chamber Music formation with the guest trumpeter Mathieu Michel. In the process they take the audience on a journey from timeless Folk songs and on to jointly-written songs with current hot topics.
