«Duas Moradas»

Pianist and composer Floriano Inacio Jr. has &quot;Duas Moradas&quot; (two homes) - he moved from the global metropolis of São Paulo to Bülach. And so his fifth album, which tells the story of this journey, is called Duas Moradas. The songs were written all over the world and recorded in a studio in the Brazilian hinterland. Inacio Jr. was inspired by nature, his family and his musician and poet friends, whose memory resonates in every note. The album captivates with a variety of Brazilian rhythms, which are also strongly influenced by the aesthetics of jazz. With engaging melodies, contemporary harmonies and expressive improvisation, the work reveals Floriano&#x27;s passion for jazz, especially Brazilian jazz.

Here, structures are broken up and boundaries are explored! London-based pianist and singer Ashley Henry mixes jazz with neo-soul, hip-hop and R&#x27;n&#x27;B in his compositions. The result is a groovy sound that offers room for breakbeats as well as Henry&#x27;s lyrical and playful piano solos. In a short space of time, Ashley Henry has developed from a newcomer to an important voice in the British jazz scene.

Anyone who has experienced Nikki Hill singing her heart out knows that this woman is like a thunderbolt! Loud, bright and electrifying! Together with husband and guitarist Matt Hill and her ‘Pirate Crew’, the North Carolina-born singer is finally bringing her unmistakable Deep South Soul back to Moods. With unfiltered energy, they take on all varieties of American roots music and deliver a sound that makes you believe in rock and roll again. Mark Lettieri

Mark Lettieri is both an extremely versatile guitarist and a very busy man. At home in virtually every genre, he is currently one of the most sought-after studio musicians and has toured with a number of major artists. In 2008, Lettieri became an integral part of the jazz/world group Snarky Puppy, where he contributes as guitarist, arranger and composer. Outside of Snarky Puppy, Lettieri has released five albums as a leader, and in 2018 Lettieri joined forces with Vulfpeck offshoot The Fearless Flyers, which includes Vulfpeck&#x27;s Cory Wong and Joe Dart on guitar and bass, respectively, and drummer Nate Smith (Chris Potter, Pat Metheny). His most recent recordings include David Crosby, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Adam Levine, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Tori Kelly, Ledisi, Tamela Mann, Eric Roberson, Lecrae, Lupe Fiasco, Keyshia Cole, Xzibit and numerous radio and TV jingles.

The cross-genre project Kyoto Jazz Massive, founded by the Okino brothers and discovered by Gilles Peterson, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with new album release and a refreshed line-up. Under the direction of Shuya Okino, with Vanessa Freeman on lead vocals, KJM will be supported by the powerful Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra, showcasing their unique crossover vision from jazz-funk, broken beat, and soulful house to cosmic grooves and everything in between! After a highly energetic night in late December 2023, they are back to rock Zurich out of its socks.

Malika Tirolien

From Guadeloupe, Grammy nominated vocalist, songwriter and producer Malika Tirolien is an explosive mix of creativity, dedication and genuineness. Her love, passion and respect for music can be felt in the sparkling authenticity of her performances in which her soaring voice immediately grabs your attention and her well-crafted compositions present effusive emotions through conscious and engaged lyrics. Montreal based, she has been garnering international attention for almost a decade, striking with her electrifying performance on “Iʼm not the one”, a prime track on the Grammy-winning album “Family Dinner” by Snarky Puppy that has been inspiring countless covers worldwide. Adi Oasis

Hailing from the French Caribbean and living in Brooklyn, Adi Oasis is currently taking the music world by storm. Since launching her solo career in 2018, she has performed with Anderson .Paak, Gregory Porter, JUNGLE, Masego, Thundercat, appeared at festivals such as the Newport Jazz Fest, Love Supreme or Montreux Jazz Festival and the stream of rave reviews just won&#x27;t dry up. On her debut album &quot;Lotus Glow&quot;, released in 2023, Adi Oasis combines her retro-futuristic signature sound, her soaring voice and her spectacular bass playing to create a very personal and political work that particularly reflects the reality of her life as a Black female immigrant in America. &quot;Lotus Glow represents the flower I&#x27;ve blossomed into, the artist I&#x27;ve worked on becoming all my life. The glow is where I am going next. It&#x27;s my destiny.&quot;

MISS C-LINE is an up-and-coming neo-soul singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Bern/Basel. Her music blends soul and groove with elements of hip-hop and jazz to create a unique and memorable style. Inspired by greats such as Erykah Badu, The Roots and Robert Glasper, MISS C-LINE writes and produces all her songs herself. This earned her a nomination for the Kick Ass Award in 2019, three appearances at the SRF Bounce Cypher, her debut album Surreal was included in international playlists and in 2021 she won the New Generation Jazz Lab Contest. Justina Lee Brown

Although the hearty and highly talented Nigerian singer Justina Lee Brown and her band have been thrilling audiences at all blues challenges for years, the blues is only one facet of her music. African and Caribbean influences, gospel, soul and R&#x27;n&#x27;B are also at the heart of her charismatic performances, in which she impresses as an energetic performer with a phenomenal voice. In her native Lagos, Justina Ogunlolu faced the tough struggle for survival as a street kid and fought her way through to the big stages of Europe with perseverance and stamina. After a few performances in Switzerland, Justina and Nic Niedermann crossed paths. The guitarist, composer and producer has been one of the driving forces in the Swiss blues scene for years. Nic becomes the new bandleader and puts together a top-class band for Justina. Justina Lee Brown finally gets the long-awaited opportunity to record her own songs, which she draws from a huge pool of intensive experience, and to realize them for her brilliant stage performances. Joseph Bowie’s Big Band Funk - The Legendary Music of Defunkt

Joseph Bowie is the brother of the big band musician Byron Bowie and the co-founder of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Lester Bowie. Joe himself founded the punk-funk-jazz group Defunkt in 1978. The band released several genre-bending albums in the 1980s, and their music has been called one of the most adventurous sounds of the last quarter of the 20th century. Over the past 20 years, Joe Bowie has also worked to adapt this music for big band. One of the arrangers Joe has worked with since 2011 is Ed Partyka. The ZJO is looking forward to an energetic evening of danceable hits from the long history of Defunkt.

Deeply influenced by Creole music as well as American jazz and folk, Leyla McCalla&#x27;s music is at once earthy, elegant, soulful and witty. Her music vibrates with three centuries of history, yet feels strikingly fresh and unique. Leyla McCalla draws inspiration from her past and present, whether it&#x27;s her Haitian heritage or her adopted home of New Orleans. The bilingual multi-instrumentalist and former member of the Grammy-winning African-American string band, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, has developed a distinctive sound that reflects her roots and her experiences. Her latest album, &quot;Breaking the Thermometer to Hide the Fever,&quot; explores the legacy of Radio Haiti, the first private Creole-language radio station in Haiti, as well as the journalists who risked and lost their lives to be on the air for nearly 50 years. The result is simultaneously a work of radical performance art, historical scholarship, and personal memoir, a sweeping and powerful meditation on family, democracy, and free expression that could not have come at a better time. Masterclass with Azymuth

One of Brazil&#x27;s most influential and longest running bands, Azymuth has created an entirely new sound: Jazz-funk and samba fused into an infectious blend known as “Samba Doido”. They have played with just about everyone throughout Brazil’s golden era of MPB, jazz, soul and funk (including Jorge Ben, Milton Nascimento, Tim Maia, Elis Regina and Marcos Valle, to name just a few). In addition to their influence on jazz and funk, Azymuth&#x27;s worldwide contribution to electronic music and hip-hop is undeniable. They have collaborated with greats such as 4hero, Madlib and Jazzanova and can be heard in various remixes. Fifty years after their formation, Azymuth have released over thirty albums and are still busy writing, recording and playing. And with the same energy as at the beginning of their career. Even after the unexpected death of drummer and founding member Ivan Mamão Conti in the spring of 2023, there are no signs of fatigue. With Renato Massa, one of Brazil&#x27;s most renowned drummers, a more than worthy replacement has been built to honor Mamão&#x27;s memory and legacy and keep the spirit of Azymuth alive. This masterclass is an opportunity for both musicians and music enthusiasts to ask the Jazz Funk legends any questions they&#x27;ve always wanted to ask. This masterclass gives musicians and music enthusiasts alike the opportunity to ask Ida Nielsen all the questions that are burning on the tip of their tongue. Alina has already been selected for SRF 3 Best Talent, has been nominated for the most important Swiss music award (Swiss Music Awards) and won the Swiss Live Talent Award with her last album (Chasing Traces). It is the most personal record so far and tells about her journey back to her birthplace Kinshasa, back to her family roots.

In just over a decade, he has become one of the most celebrated young jazz artists. An artist who has carved out a niche for himself with his unique blend of gospel, blues and R&amp;B with the stirring sax explorations of John Coltrane, Albert Ayler and Sonny Rollins. His performance coincides with the release of his new ANTI Records recording, &#x27;Eye and I&#x27;, which features him in a trio with electric bassist Josh Werner and drummer Chad Taylor.

Judith Hill has already worked together with world stars such as Robbie Williams, Stevie Wonder and Elton John and became famous overnight when she sang «Heal The World» at the funeral of Michael Jackson – over 2 billion people watched on television. She appeared in the Oscar-winning documentary film «20 Feet From Stardom», generated a storm of enthusiasm in The Voice in the USA and the Rolling Stone Magazine praised her for her «outstanding powerhouse vocals». Her debut album «Back in Time» (2015) was produced by no-one less than Prince. Following a sensational show in Moods in 2019 to present her second album, «Golden Child», she now returns and brings along a new work: «Baby, I&#x27;m Hollywood!». We look forward to crisp, groovy Funk, Soul, R&#x27;n&#x27;B, to Jazzy ballads, to Judith&#x27;s impressive, distinctive voice and her great piano and guitar playing.
