Louis Matute grew up in Geneva. However, the Latin American touch hinted at in his name has accompanied him throughout his life. His travels have taken him to Spain, Cuba, Costa Rica, Honduras and most recently to Brazil, where he completed "Dolce Vita" with the voices of Joyce Moreno and Dora Morelenbaum.

The new tracks on the new album shine thanks to Nathan Vandenbulcke's outstanding drumming, Zacharie Ksyk's energetic trumpet solos and Léon Phal's sensual tenor saxophone solos, supported by double bassist Virgile Rosselet and the enormous versatility of pianist Andrew Audiger. At the same time, one recognises Louis Matute's sensitive signature, the touching melodies, the special sound of the trumpet and tenor saxophone, and the guitarist, whose rare solos are all the more effective. Louis Matute is more than just a musician – he is a curious, committed personality whose style is recognisable after just a few bars.

Louis Matute and his large ensemble open doors and windows, travel, tell stories, find healing in humanity and resilience – and use this to create music that touches the personal and appeals to the universal. And perhaps we can take "Dolce Vita" quite literally after all?
