Musicians* Council

The «Musicians' Council» is a group of six musicians from the Zurich jazz scene. It is representing the interests of Zurich’s music scene and acts as a sparring partner for the board and management of Moods when it comes to the development of existing projects and the creation of new ones. Two of its members are also on the board of the association «Jazz Verein Moods».

The members of the Musicians' Council represent an important contact point for the local music scene, which can set forth all its needs, ideas and concerns by means of regular meetings. This input is then passed on to the Moods management and/or board ; the Musicians' Council is committed to the proper implementation of all proposals received.

In addition, the Musicians' Council is responsible for selecting the candidates for the «Carte Blanche» series. Within the framework of this initiative of the Musicians' Council, six musicians are awarded the opportunity to freely create up to four concerts, with no limits in terms of style. The aim of the «Carte Blanche» series is to give the chosen artists a chance to try out new things as well as to promote exchange with the music scene.

The «Carte Blanche» evenings are also intended to be a meeting place for the local scene, and thus to promote exchange within it. Since late 2014, Moods has supported this initiative by offering half-price drinks at the bar (as well as at other selected Moods events) for all musicians with a musician's subscription ; follow this link for aditional information. Further measures are being worked on.
