The setting is as simple as it is captivating: two turntables, two people for whom music is the epicenter of their lives—or at least the force around which so much revolves. Thomas Meinecke (author, pop writer, musician, DJ, and creator of the format) and pianist Simone Keller play each other songs and records that inspire them. The starting point is our film series When Jazz Scores—but where the journey takes the two of them is anyone’s guess. A conversation about music and the stories, images, and memories that unfold behind a record and its cover. “‘Plattenspieler’ isn’t about passing on knowledge, but about intuition, love, and hate—in other words, about big emotions that, precisely for that reason, lead to funny situations,” explains Meinecke. We’re looking forward to it.
