Ben Monders is one of the most sought-after guitarists on the contemporary jazz scene. His experimental and unconventional guitar sounds, together with Tineke Postma&#x27;s original compositions, provide a fresh sound. The rhythm section with Robert Landfermann and Tristan Renfrow completes the musical foundation, allowing for complex rhythms and harmonic structures. Dancehall Mood is the monthly reggae and dancehall party at Moods. Like on every first Saturday of the month, the K.O.S crew will make the Moods club cooking with hot riddims. Irreversible Entanglements

The band Irreversible Entaglements was founded in 2015 after a concert against racist police violence. Their music has a clear goal: to make a difference through words and music. Their lyrics are evocative, haunting, angry and address trauma, black identity, feminism, police violence and racist structures. The lyrics are carried by alto saxophone, trumpet, bass and drums, a pulsating web of wildly distorted melodies, rhythms, noises.

The singer and composer from Graubünden has been on stage for 50 years. In recent years, she has become best known in this country for her adaptations of Romansh folk songs. It is almost forgotten that the &quot;Grande Dame of Chanzun Rumantscha&quot; has had a unique musical career. Between 1990 and 2010, she worked in Berlin, Paris, London, NYC and Vienna with an astonishing variety of international jazz greats. With her tour, Corin Curschellas celebrates her 50th stage anniversary with a band of her choice, made up of her former Parisian musical companions: guitarist Noël Akchoté, pianist Benoît Delbecq, drummer Steve Argüelles, accordionist Patricia Draeger and bassist Lukas Traxel.

The concert at Moods is again a tribute to contemporary Italian jazz, as she reinterprets the music of Enrico Pieranunzi. For this special project she has engaged one of the greatest interpreters of his music, clarinetist Gabriele Mirabassi, who complements the trio to form a quartet. They are joined by two other pillars of Italian jazz: Paolino Dalla Porta on double bass and Stefano Bagnoli on drums. A trio that enables the harp to overcome the stereotypes associated with its instrument. Together they are in constant role reversal: harp, double bass and drums sometimes merge into a single sound, sometimes into three dialoguing soloists, sometimes into a perfect interplay to emphasize melodies or biting grooves. Band-it Weekend

Band-it enables young bands and musicians to present themselves to a larger audience and a jury under professional conditions. In June, they show their skills at six qualifications throughout the canton of Zurich. Indie rock, German pop, Balkan sound, singer/songwriter, hip hop and punk: since 1989, over 1600 bands from all musical genres have taken part in this Newcomer Band Festival. For many of these young talents, Band-it has been a launch pad to great success, such as Faber, Evelinn Trouble, Pablo Infernal and Sebass. Admission is free. What have almost forgotten Japanese folk songs got to do with a cumbia beat? The answer is Minyo Crusaders! The ten-piece collective reworks traditional Japanese folk songs called Min&#x27;yō with Latin music such as cumbia, Ethiopian jazz, Thai pop, Afro-funk and reggae. The result sounds a little crazy, but is absolutely brilliant in a great way. Minyo Crusaders are the most infectious and hottest global beat party since Buena Vista Social Club. Anyway, the punchy and inventive arrangements breathe new life into the old Japanese min&#x27;yō, which are also traditional workers&#x27; songs.

Last year, Orchestra Baobab, one of Africa&#x27;s greatest bands, celebrated its 50th anniversary. Its story begins in the heart of Dakar&#x27;s medina in Senegal in the late 1960s and stretches around the world and into the 21st century. The group of singers and musicians from all over the continent play a mixture of Afro and Latin American styles, international pop and traditional griot music. After last year&#x27;s sold-out concert, the band returns to Moods this August.

From her hometown of London, singer Summer Pearl is currently taking the music world by storm. Pablo Nouvelle and Nativ are two important figures in the Swiss music scene. At first glance, the orientation of the two may seem quite different: While Pablo Nouvelle is primarily active in the electronic realm, Nativ is considered one of the most relevant exponents of the Swiss rap scene. Nevertheless, or perhaps because of that, they harmonize excellently: repeated collaborations now result in the album Embrace and a first joint tour together with Amos Fankhauser and Matthias Nydegger.

Michael Heitzler's Klezmerband

Michael Heitzler became known as the clarinetist of the group &quot;Kolsimcha&quot;, with which he has traveled the world since the early 90s and led klezmer music to new, modern shores. A few years ago Michael Heitzler formed his own band with the three outstanding musicians Christian Gutfleisch (piano), Michael Chylewski (double bass) and Daniel Schay (drums) to pay homage to the great American and Eastern European bands of the 1920s to 1950s. In addition to stirring pieces, there are beautiful, deep and touching ballads that go straight to the soul. Before the concert, a Klezmer workshop will be held at Galotti. Trumpeter Matthew Halsall is a pioneer. With his compositions and his label Godwana Records, he has succeeded in developing jazz and bringing it into the present. In contrast to his London colleagues, who rock the scene with danceable club sounds, Matthew Halsall convinces above all with clear, calm arrangements that leave room for improvisation. On his new album Salute to the Sun, elements of the British jazz scene merge with the inspiring sounds of spiritual jazz by Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders. Added to this are the powerful rhythms of global sound and the futuristic sounds of electronica.

Moods members are guaranteed admission to every event until 30 minutes before the concert starts. Only shows with a high demand require a reservation. The corresponding concerts are marked on the website with "Member-Reservation".

Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in the events at Moods. 

Moods is reached via the main entrance of the Schiffbau at Schiffbauplatz. We recommend arriving by public transport (streetcar 4 or 8 / bus 72, 83 or 33 to Schiffbau; S-Bahn to Hardbrücke station and from there approx. 2 minutes on foot).
Parking spaces are available under Hardbrücke and in the Pfingstweid-/Hardstrasse parking garage.
