Marina Mello’s final carte blanche evening will be a unique and rare opportunity to experience an evening at Moods dedicated entirely to the harp. The program features two solo performances: one by Rhodri Davies and the other by Marina Mello.

While sharing a deep passion for the instrument and a similar approach to it, both artists have developed their own distinctive and personal ways of exploring the harp, from their choice of harp type to their use of extended techniques and electronics.

Rhodri Davies is a Welsh harpist, improviser, composer and multidisciplinary artist. His possibilities for exploring the concept of the harp” seem almost endless, whether it’s the classical harp, the Bray harp, the horsehair harp, or the electric harp; installations involving wind, water, ice, or fire; or experimentation with preparations and detunings. It is therefore no coincidence that Davies is considered one of the most prominent members of the London School of Reductionist Improvised Music.
