The Brit James Taylor is a talented Hammond B-3 organ player and a pioneer of acid jazz. Meanwhile, his quarter has written a 30-year history which comprises countless albums and collaboration with renowned performers such as Tom Jones, U2 and The Pogues. Throughout the years the James Taylor Quartet has developed its very own sound, which is audibly inspired by the funk of the 60&#x27;s and 70&#x27;s, R’n’B, psychedelic Jazz and film scores. Live, the JTQ will once again impress the audience with its energy-loaded show.

Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out – everyone has danced to this 90&#x27;s hit from Freak Power! Over 20 years have passed since then and founder Norman Cook is meanwhile known as Fatboy Slim. Now the British band is back again: with their bubbling mix of Acid-Jazz, Funk and Soul, they revive the good old times with just as much energy and groove and also bring along some new songs. A must for all nostalgics and all those who want to swing their hips again before the Summer break.

Acid Arab (Live)

What began as a party motto is these days a bridge between western Club sounds and Arabian music. The DJ’s Hervé Carvalho and Guido Minisky - both already active on the Paris club scene for more than two decades – started the party series Acid Arab about four years ago. Their name says it all: Techno, Acid House and Disco are blended with sounds from North Africa and the Middle East and thus develop a hypnotic force that no one can resist.

Dominik Blum is the archetypical, postmodern, stylistic world traveller: classisal piano practice as daily bread for retention of speed and to sharpen mind and spirit, Hammond organ playing as eclectic consolidation somewhere between New Music, Minimal, Rock, Free Jazz, Walls of Sound. Church Organ playing, analogue synthesiser playing, and lately he often reaches for his electric bass and lets it rip... somehow all of this will surface (with illustrious guests) in his Carte Blanche sessions during December 2020! The third evening of Dominik Blums Carte Blanche is dedicated to alternative Groove music. The Zurich Post Grunge band age, in which Blum can be heard as singing bassist, plays the first set.

Thereafter, for the last highlight, the three musicians of Aluk Todolo from Paris get Moods a-shaking with their occult, virtuoso, brutal post-rock. Hendrix will be checking this out, equally Sunn O or for example the Japanese Acid Mothers Temple. An insider tip among the classic guitar rock trios. Great music that deserves more reward.

WET WET WET

Probably the most courageous Swiss band takes us by surprise with interference sounds, feminsitic proliferation and monotonal virtuosity. During their live performances the focus is on improvisation. Everything else is coincidence, like applause for the Big Bang, and garbage in outer space. Why? Because it can be different! «How To Take Up Space&gt;, the debut album of the band from Zurich has just been released. Both cumbersome and full of relish.

For admission, all guests need a valid Covid certificate from Switzerland or EU (QR code) for vaccinated, tested or recovered persons and an official ID card (ID, passport or driver&#x27;s license). Their music moves between Psychedelic Rock, Punk and New Wave with political and socio-critical song texts. Since the foundation in 2013 the duo has played over 160 concerts in Switzerland and abroad, from big club and festival stages to small DIY gigs. On their second album, «WET», (release on 20. August 2021 on the Swiss label Hummus Records) the two musicians now expand the possibility of the bass + drum tandem with unforeseen sounds and influences from improvised music. The result of the mix is a freshly squeezed Ester-Poly juice with a bitter socio-critical aftertaste.

DJ Yavuz&#x27;s musical career goes back to 1997, when he entered the Istanbul music scene with Acid Jazz. After that, his path led from Shaman World Music Club to various well-known clubs of Istanbul&#x27;s nightlife, such as Eski Beyrut, Hayal Kahvesi, Araf Bar or Melek Bar, where he was instrumental in establishing world music as a trend on the Bosphorus. Since 2008 he lives in Zurich and plays regularly in Switzerland as well as in Italy, Germany and Turkey at various concerts, festivals, world electronic beat and funk parties. In addition, there are various live jam sessions with different musicians. Between 2013 and 2019 Yavuz managed his own indie radio project &quot;Radio Beatkolektif&quot;. From these diverse experiences arose his unique style with a wide repertoire of world music, electronic, psychedelic to funk and indie.

Kyoto Jazz Massive was founded over 30 years ago by the brothers Shūya and Yoshihiro Okino and discovered by Gilles Peterson. Since then, they have been storming jazz hearts worldwide with their spiritual crossover ventures and electronic influences. In an exclusive masterclass, we meet founding member and creative director Shūya in an interview with London-based music journalist Dom Servini. The masterclass will be held in English. Open to musicians and anyone interested in music. No registration required.

The Philipp Eden Trio with Xaver Rüegg on double bass and Vincent Glanzmann on drums plays contemporary Jazz with much flair for tonal and formal aesthetic. In their music the three musicians combine influences that range from Classical music via Avantgarde to Hip-Hop. The result is a penetrating ensemble music with an expressive density that inspires the listener’s imaginative powers. In Moods the trio will present, amongst others, compositions from the new album, «Placid».
