Raw Desert-Blues from the Sahel: in their music, Etran de L&#x27;Aïr capture the pules of daily life at weddings, christenings, political events and open-air soirees. Though the use of three instead of two guitars the sound comes across more wired and more rampant as with other bands. They orient themselves more toward artistes such as Oumou Sangaré and Ali Farka Touré than the established Tuareg ensembles. The live-recorded album «No. 1» was voted by the New Yorker as Album of the Year in 2020. Yamandu Costa

When you listen to Yamandu Costa on his 7-string guitar, after a few minutes you ask yourself: how is that even playable? It sounds dynamic as a bassist, lyrical as a flute player, and percussive as a drummer; in terms of dynamic and tempo, he extracts what is humany possible. Yamandu Costa comes from the Rio Grande do Sul, the south of Brazil, thus accordingly his repertoire embraces musical styles such as Choro, Milonga, Tango, Samba and Chamamé. His virtuosity was already the subject of the documentary film «Brasileirinho» and his solo concert at the French Festival «Jazz à Porquerolles» was broadcast on Arte.

Desert Blues from one of the most promising musicians from Africa! The singer and guitarist Omara «Bombino» Moctar is a charismatic personality; as a member of a Tuareg tribe in the Central African Niger he fosters a deep awareness for the music of the Nomads. During the last ten years Bombino has developed into an internationally known and admired musician with a sizeable list of fans and musical collaborators. This includes Stevie Wonder, Keith Richards, Robert Plant, Dave Longstreth, Dan Auerbach and many more. He was last in Moods in 2016, now he returns with his sixth album «Deran» - which means something like «with best wishes». Recorded in Casablanca, it is to date Bombino&#x27;s most gripping and multi-faceted album with wishes for a world that is currently full of pain and chaos. Supported by SüdKulturFonds

Marc Ribot Ceramic Dog

Marc Ribot is one of the great figures of American jazz and soul – and one of the most unpredictable! As a guitarist, he has helped to define the music of the famous such as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, John Zorn and Robert Plant, and in his own projects he appears sometimes as a rock musician, sometimes as a jazz man, and sometimes as a quirky virtuoso with a liking for folk and or for classic in appearance. Ribot considers his trio Ceramic Dog as a rock band: music of punky energy, effervescent energy and lots of cynism, from roadhouse blues via rocky Cumbia and on to a psychedelic trip.
